Support with the cost of dyslexia assessments in Kent and East Sussex

A full diagnostic dyslexia assessment is a detailed professional process and involves specialist testing and report writing. We understand that the cost can sometimes be challenging for families.

At WordWise Dyslexia Services we aim to make assessments as accessible as possible.

In some circumstances we are able to offer a limited number of reduced-fee assessments each term for families experiencing financial hardship.

When might a reduced-fee assessment be considered?

  • Reduced-fee assessments may be offered where:

  • A school or SENCo has suggested that a dyslexia assessment may be helpful

  • A learner is experiencing significant literacy difficulties affecting education or study

  • Financial circumstances make a private assessment difficult to access

  • The assessment is likely to help inform educational support

If you feel this may apply to your situation, please contact us and we will be happy to discuss options.

Who can apply?

Reduced-fee assessments may be considered for:

  • Primary school pupils

  • Secondary school pupils

  • Sixth form students

  • Adults returning to education or training

Priority may be given where a school is involved in supporting the referral.

How to enquire

If you would like to enquire about a reduced-fee assessment, please get in touch and briefly explain:

  • the learner’s current difficulties

  • whether a school has suggested assessment

  • why financial support may be needed

All enquiries are considered sensitively and confidentially.

Other possible sources of support

In some cases schools, employers or universities may contribute towards the cost of an assessment.

Funding may also sometimes be available through:

  • schools or academy trusts

  • workplace support schemes

  • local charities or community organisations

If you are unsure whether an assessment is the right step, we are always happy to offer brief guidance before booking.

* Reduced-fee assessments are offered at the discretion of the assessor and are subject to availability each term.
